1995 Celica ST - Won't start at random times

I have a 1995 Celica ST automatic that I need help troubleshooting.

A month I would be driving around and the car would just die when I let off the gas, happened on the freeway once. This was becoming a daily thing. The engine diagnostic code was 14- ignition signal circuit. My mechanic did some testing and said that the distributor needed to be replaced. Had it replaced and the car was running fine for a week.

Now randomly when trying to start the car the car will start but will only stay started for about a second then dies. I try to turn it over again and the same thing happens. If I let the car sit for about an hour, it starts up just fine after that.

This has only happened twice but its beginning to be a problem. My mechanic said no codes showed up and we could possibly change the crank or cam shaft sensor but its a shot in the dark. Anyone have suggestions?

Maybe you should check what kind of spark plugs you're using? NGK Iridium IX is the best for Celica's, change out the spark plug wires.
