Default Needcooling help fast!!! 01 GT

Ok, I just had the timing set redone on my 1zz. Didnt do the pumps, did the chain all sprockets including the VVTi sprocket.'Wife picked it up from shop, came home and I went to check it out and take for a spin. Temp was right on the money....1 mile and the temp gauge instantly went to max and was blinking, stopped shut it off and as I opened the hood, the small hose blew off the radiator on to of the driver side (coming from the bottle). Started it to see if there was flow (thinking pump) and the temp was back to normally in like 1 minute...it has taken a bunch of coolant to get the bottle to the fill line so obviously mechanic didnt check it out right.
My question is, if I had a huge air pocket :
1. could it have messed up the temp sensor?
2. is there a trick to get the pressurized system purged? ( it just wont seem to stabilize at the right level)
3. Any ideas?

Im pissed and frustrated I have a 75 mile commute one way to work and kind of need my car!

sounds like you have air in the system, does yours have the overflow with two separate chambers? one will be the refill chamber and the other will be a pressure chamber,if yes open the small white cap on the top of the overflow canister with the motor running and see if air comes out , if it does keep refilling as needed and keep opening the small cap till all air comes out, open your heater all the way and run the heater motor too to help get the air circulating through the entire system .

Thank you! That's pretty much what I did. I had the timing set done and the mechanic didn't bleed the system. Took a gallon. It's all good now. I'm used to old V-8s with two hoses and a radiator cap! And yes, I have the two chambered bottle with the bleeder valve. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah when u replace it, or do any work on the system u have to keep it on, i wait till the fan turns on n then i'll just keep adding coolant, cause that tells u that its getting hot/normal temp n the thermostat open up to let cooler coolant in thus triggering the fan to cool the hot coolant, its a cycle it goes thru basically.. n i also squeeze the hoses a bit.. that reminds me i need to do a flush on ma GT lol
