Hi there, I've been searching for a performance air filter for my 2005 Celica GT-S, not bothered about sound as I believe there is a parralel between developing power and good noise.
If its quick it generally sounds good. Im not fussed about the cost I just want to know what will help me develop the most BHP. 3 that have popped up are; 1.Blitz Power Induction Kit 2.AEM Cold Air Intake 3.Injen Cold Air Intake Can anyone give me some reviews or point to something better, I would really appreciate the advise. Kind Regards |

I've never seen a 2005 but my 2003 has an air box that already inducts air directly from the front grill. Basically already a ram and cold air intake. It also helps shield heat from the exhaust manifold better than a filter. I threw a K&n high flow filter in the stock box and called it a day. Noticeable power gain and lift sounds good.

Hmmm, thats interesting as normally im told panel filters don't really do anything, but its something to check out.
Also mine is European and (after checking Bonaire on the map ) im guessing your isn't.I'll have a look at that tomorrow after a visit to my local dealership to make friends with the parts lads there. |

I thought about putting a K&N Typhoon induction kit on mine but was warned off as it can suck in warm air(not good) and that a panel filter gave most gains because of the air boxes ramair advantages. So i got a K&N panel in my T Sport(think it's a gt s in u.s.)

I keep hearing about the advantages of just panel filters, but im not overly keen on putting something that needs oiling. CAI inductions particularly INJEN are showing some Dyno results that show a few extra bhp (2ish) especially at the top end.
I've decided against the Blitz as tests show there pretty bad at actually filtering dirt. But I will add the panel filter class as a maybe. AAAARRGGHH decisions decisions |

I too am running the stock air box with a K&N filter , sounds better than before and there is a minimal difference in acceleration , after looking long and hard I decided to go with this configuration as I dont think that a c.a.i.or short air is really going to make that much in the ps department to really be worth it on a stock Celica. Good luck and let us know what you find out

Any kit you buy that stays under the hood is going to pull hot/warm air into your motor , the kits that go down and out risk sucking water up and hydro locking your motor. The stock box seems to be the best as it sucks cold air from in front of the car , and you can even modify your hood/front bumper to get even more cold air into it.There is even a butterfly valve inside the original box that if removed (and the vacuum hose capped) it allows even more air in.

The Injen filter goes behind the n/s front wheel well but obviously spray is an issue. However the butterfly valve intrigues me as a friend of mine with a Polo GTI (I know its not jap ) and he got a new airbox with less restriction and claims it made a noticeable difference in the feel of his car climbing revs. And you all know with a GTS you need to get up those revs quickly to reach the power. Are there any links about this valve or any more information you can provide me? |
