So I decided to try to do a write up on how install HID's in a 5th gen. It is fairly easy and you might only need basic hand tools. Sorry if this thread doesn't help I didn't want to undo all of my wiring to show you guys lol.
First you have to buy your hids with ballast and conversion lens. Your current lights are sealed so you can not take the bulb out. The conversion lens needs to be a 7x6 housing. Some kits come with it all and will be cheaper. I bought 10k HID's with the conversion lens for $80 on ebay. ![]() First unplug the negative terminal on the battery to minimize getting shocked or blowing a fuse To start you need to take the plastic around the flip up lights off. there are 3 easy accessible screws on the outside. ![]() ![]() Once that is off you will need to take the metal frame holding the light housing in. there are 4 screws. ![]() ![]() Once that is off you can remove the light and unclip the 3 prong harness ![]() ![]() For the wiring the 3 prong connector plugs on the HID plugs into the 3 prong harness on the car. Then all the other wires on the HID's plug into its connectors. Can't get these wrong because they only fit one way. Test the lights to make sure everything works. Now for the somewhat difficult part. Wiring the ballast through the flip up light and putting it somewhere. If you got an HID like mine it came with short wires with butt connectors. That made it very difficult to put the ballast and wires somewhere without the wires hitting the flip up mechanism which can cause a short or make the light not fold all the way down. If you run into trouble where the lights won't flip up or down because they are stuck there is a manual switch for the lights under the car towards the bumper where the light is. it is covered with a rubber boot. What I did for the ballast (some of you may not need to do this if you find a better place or get a different kit) is i cut the butt connectors off and extended the wires. Make sure you solder and heat shrink these connections to minimize shorts. I put my ballast and wires on top of the turn signal in the bumper and secured it there. Not the best place but it works for me lol ![]() Plug your battery back in and make sure the lights flip up and down and turn on before putting everything back together. If your HID lights do not light up after everything is connected try reversing the polarity on the plug for the ballast. lots of times the ground and positive get switched. ![]() Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions! @ Rose- a relay type is only needed on the BI-Xenon, but it's also easy to hook up, + & - that's all there is to it, just gotta wire it were u want to n that its not in the way. Sometimes it comes together with the HID kit u buy or u can buy it separated ...lets say if u have HID right now n u want BI-Xenon, u would have to buy Bulb & that relay harness
