Wow,I this is an old thread!
I have owned and driven three different Skylines and four Fairlady Z cars. Contrary to what someone posted, the z did in fact come in a 2+2 model although the back seat was as useful as that in the 7th gen Celica. Considering the small streets and low speed limits a stock engine there was cammed down compared to US models. the next step up from stock was basically equivalent to a stock US model. What made rodding these cars possible (aftermarket parts were expensive new) was the massive black market theft rings. Another thing about rodding cars over there was that any modifications, including rims, were technically illegal and depending on the officer could result in immediate loss of the vehicle until you were able to return it to full legal mechanical condition.....I had this happen twice. I will say this, back in the days I lived there, the tuners in the back of the shady shops knew their sh*t and could turn out some screamin cars. It was a great sub culture and although I was an outsider I did attain a level of acceptance due my lust of cars.....and the fasted thing I owned over there was an RX-7. It was just obscene. |
