Default Hello all

Hi
Im new to this forum, i joined to talk to other celica owners and discuss repairs for if stuff goes wrong. Got my own celica (02 gt standard) a couple months ago, but learned to drive the one my dad used to own before it got totaled, loving it so far, but has been sitting in my garage for a while due to the nasty winter weather

As a word of advice, find an empty parking lot near you and teach yourself how to drive in snow there and learn how the chassis behaves. That way you will be able to save yourself from loosing control on public roads.

Ya but why would he want to drive his celica in harsh winters (where he lives) when he has a 1987 Pickup which would be more efficent to drive in that kind of condition, hense some people put their celica's away for winter because of the Salt that their Province/State uses on the roads?

Why would he intentionally limit his driving skill?
I'm not saying he needs to drive his Celica all winter, but it can't hurt to know how to drive a FWD car in poor conditions.

he isnt limiting his driving skills he is driving a pick up truck? :P and ya i guess he could take his car out on the road in winter times, but dont you think he should be doing that in his winter work truck? and save the practise for the celica on a summer rainy day,?????

I mean his truck could break or he could get stuck driving someone else home in their Civic or something. It never hurts to broaden your horizons.

Im not talking about if something will happen, im on the subject of right now, and what he can drive, which is a pick up truck and a celica, i dont like assumptions, unless a fact actually comes up, in that case you are talking about driving a friends civic, which is a compact car as well, but driving a celica and civic are two whole different cars, and that your facts state that if he practises in his celica he will be alright driving his friends civic? Do you take into consideration the different feel for the gas pedal? or even the cornering? or lets even say the blind spots and mirrors? every vehicle is different and your answer is invaild that if he practises driving his celica he could drive his friends civic without worries.

Ok, I'll play it your way, let him not be prepared for the worst, like if his truck gets wrecked in December and he is forced to drive the Celica in nasty weather.

I had an older man that is a very skilled driver tell me once that I should drive as many cars in as many conditions as I possibly can. He emphasized that experience is irreplaceable in learning how to stay out of the ditch in every possible situation.

I'm not trying to argue with you indefinitely, let's agree to disagree and see what the rest of the community has to say on the subject.

Ok , Well here are three good tips for you.
1. A vehicle is a vehicle, and people do get into accidents in this time of year, it can be preventable, but not 100%, as you think.
2. If he already drove his celica in the winter time just for a ride then he should be fine, hense as well the person behind the wheel is a good driver, doesnt follow to close behind and or drifts around ever corner they find. (A Hole Driver)
3. And you dont know Harsh weather, living here in Canada it snows 5 months out of the year and this isnt just a couple cm's of snow im talking by the FEET and the ice , Actually speaking of Harsh last week with the windwhield hit a low of -44 degree's celsius of in fahrenheit -83.200, Here in Ontario Canada.
