2004 Celica tire/rim size

Hi guys, I was wondering what size you suggest for a 2004 celica tsunami edition. I currently have 225/45/17 on the car.
In the spring i plan on getting new tires and rims. I would like to stay with 17s as i hear with 18s you start to lose on performance.

So...what size do you guys suggest for the car?
I'm assuming the options would be 205/45/17, 215/45/17 and 225/45/17

I really don't know which to go with? would you guys be able to tell me some pros and cons of each and perhaps give me some opinions
