Default Heater problem

I purchased an 02 Celi the end of March this year. So far, everything seems to work great. The other day was chilly and rainy (finally) so I was running the defroster which worked great as long as I did not mind being cold. To troubleshoot, I switched over to heat mode and turned the temperature adjusting knob to full hot, but no heat came out. Yesterday, I opened up the dash to check all of the air control linkages and confirmed that they all function normally. The air mixer valve seems to move correctly (a light thump can be heard at the end of its travel). Most other cars I have dealt with have a water control valve in the engine compartment to let water into the heater ex changer but I cannot locate such on the Celica to see if maybe it is not moving. please help. Kansas winters can get quite cold and now is the season to fix this.

info update. I just drove several miles to warm up the engine. After shutdown I felt both of the water lines from the engine into the cabin. One is definitely warmer than the other but both have evidence of engine heater water in them. There is a 3rd (apparent) water line there that I cannot identify, but I dont think it is for heating.

Do a coolant flush, replace thermostat and check radiator cap health. Sounds like thermostat may be stuck open.
